We are a charity that relies entirely on voluntary donations, and grants from Charitable Trusts and Foundations enable us to support even more people affected by bowel cancer and their families. Such support also helps fund our innovative campaigns to promote greater awareness of symptoms and the key message that bowel cancer can be beaten.
You can support a specific area of our work, or make an unrestricted gift which will allow us to use your grant where it is needed most. Whatever you decide, your support will help us to continue to help those affected by bowel cancer in your area and the rest of the UK. With your help, we will be able to provide a range of vital services and give people with bowel cancer the help, hope and reassurance they need.
Here is what the people we help say:
“Beating Bowel Cancer has threaded through my treatment for the past 8 years, and has been an essential part of my recovery. They have been incredibly professional and empathetic at the times when others weren’t. Words cannot express how vital their existence is not only for me but for the thousands of people across the UK who are also struggling to cope with their bowel cancer diagnosis. Beating Bowel Cancer is the best, the foremost, from my heart.” – Jacquie, Bowel Cancer Voice
“[Their booklets] have helped me so much in terms of having greater awareness of my diagnosis, provided more information around my staging and treatment, answering questions that I often missed when talking to my care team, and have helped with general heath advice to give myself the best chance of feeling well. Now I have reached the end of treatment I found myself feeling nervous and anxious about the future and the ‘Beyond bowel cancer’ booklet has helped me rationalise how I feel emotionally, my fear of recurrence and help me understand what to expect from my follow up care.” – Amy, Bowel Cancer Voice
We are extremely grateful to the many Charitable Trusts and Foundations who have supported our work. These include:
Amongst those who have helped us to establish and run our Nurse Helpline (the UK’s only nurse-led specialist helpline for bowel cancer) are the John Ellerman Foundation, the Grand Charity of Freemasons, the Lockwood Charitable Foundation and the Hospital Saturday Fund.
“Beating Bowel Cancer impressed me with its enthusiasm and commitment to saving lives and helping patients. I was shocked that bowel cancer is the UK’s second biggest cancer killer and through the Lockwood Charitable Foundation I am proud to support Beating Bowel Cancer and help the charity to make people aware of bowel cancer and its symptoms and provide direct support for patients to relieve their suffering.” – Richard Lockwood, Trustee of the Lockwood Charitable Foundation.
Our newly designed website and online patient forum have been made possible by the generous support from the Allergan International Foundation; an international foundation and the Caron Keating Foundation.
“Having lost a family member to bowel cancer, I know how important it is to obtain early diagnosis to save lives. So many people seem to source information primarily through the internet, this is a tremendous service to offer those who are desperately in need of information.” – Gloria Hunniford, Trustee of the Caron Keating Foundation.
We would be delighted to explore our work with Charitable Trusts and Foundations.
