Congratulations and a huge thank you to our team of 65 Beating Bowel Cancer runners who ran in the 2014 Virgin Money London Marathon. We are very proud of you all! Thanks also to our volunteers who came along to cheer our runners on and help at our post race reception.

Costs and Sponsorship - charity places

Registration fee: £50 (payable on confirmation of your place)

Sponsorship pledge: £2000

We ask everyone interested in running for Beating Bowel Cancer to fill out an application form. Please be as detailed as possible on your reasons for wanting to support us and how you plan to raise the £2000 sponsoship pledge.

All applicants will be notified whether they have been successful by the beginning of November 2014 at the latest.

Ballot place runners 

The public ballot will open for entries on Tuesday 22nd April 2014. Please check for more details. Don't miss out as the ballot will only stay open for a short time and is likely to open in the early hours of the morning.

Results of the public ballot will be announced in September/October time. If you have been lucky enough to secure a place in the public ballot, we would be delighted to have you on the team as a ballot place runner. We don't set you a fundraising target, we will support you to raise as much as you can.


Whether you are a ballot place or charity runner, Beating Bowel Cancer will support you every step of the way with your training and fundraising, including:

  • A comprehensive fundraising pack to kick start your fundraising
  • A Beating Bowel Cancer running vest
  • Training advice and tips from Mark Kleanthous founder of
  • Regular fundraising newsletters to inform and inspire
  • The chance to meet your fellow team members and get loads of advice at 'The Meet the Experts' marathon day 
  • Cheering points along the course to spur you on
  • An invitation to our post marathon reception for you and your family at the Carlton Club. A place to relax and celebrate your success and to also enjoy a post race massage
