Trek to Ancient Petra

Discover stunning scenery and ancient wonders on this facinating challenge
We journey along traditional trails of the Bedouin to the ancient and stunning capital of the Nabateans, or Petra as we know it today. With its huge rock-hewn tombs and buildings set amongst strange red sandstone formations and spectacular desert, it is a truly unique place. We will be camping enroute and travelling with the local Bedouin. This is a fantastic new challenge and a great adventure.
What's included?
- Accommodation (5 nights in tents, two nights in hotel)
- Flights from the UK (Heathrow or Gatwick, depending on flight schedules at the time)

- All food during the trek
- All camping equipment (other than sleeping bag and mat)
- Fully qualified and experienced guides and support crew including qualified first aiders
Itinerary
- Day 1: Depart London to Amman
- Day 2: Transfer south to Feinan; trek through stony desert and wadis towards rolling sand dunes
- Day 3: Head out across open desert towards Wadi Barwaz, gradually descend across hamada and sand dunes to Wadi Araba
- Day 4: Trek back into mountains, follow ridges and high passes; beautiful views of mountains and desert
- Day 5: Some challenging terrain today through Sakakin Canyon following Bedouin trails to Shkaret Msei'd
- Day 6: Descend into low hills and follow winding tracks to Little Petra, approx 9000 years old
- Day 7: Trek to Petra to explore ancient monuments such as the famous Treasury; transfer to Dead Sea coast
- Day 8: Free day to relax and enjoy the Dead Sea
- Day 9: Fly Amman to London

Sponsorship target: £3300
Please note, 80% of your sponsorship money needs to be received by Beating Bowel Cancer no later than 10 weeks prior to your departure date. The remaining 20% should be receievd no later than 1 month after your return to the UK.
Please note this is an open challenge and there will be people raising money for other charities taking part.
