Lack of awareness of bowel cancer is a major concern, and for this reason much of our work is focuses on improving understanding about the disease, and providing education and information to the general public and to the medical profession.
Ways in which we are raising awareness include:
- Health in the Workplace campaign – charity representatives go into organisations to give a short talk/show a video about bowel cancer to employees;
- Spotlight campaign – providing GP practices with information about bowel cancer;
- Loud Tie campaign – a national awareness and fundraising campaign held in January each year, using a fun ‘Loud Tie’ theme to get across the serious messages about bowel cancer;
- PR – working with our Patient Voices Group, we actively seek opportunities with national and regional media to promote bowel cancer issues;
- Events – our many treks, runs, and other similar activities all help to make people aware of Beating Bowel Cancer and the work we are doing.
