Life after a diagnosis of bowel cancer
Over 38,500 people in the UK are diagnosed with bowel cancer each year. You are not alone. All of Beating Bowel Cancer's Patient Voices have been affected by bowel cancer and are willing to talk to others about their experience. Many Patient Voices also appear in our patient leaflets and on this website telling their story to help others. Increasingly, Patient Voices are finding new ways to make the most of their own bowel cancer experience, and have become more actively involved in the work of the charity by becoming expert patients delivering health information talks to the general public in their places of work, or becoming involved in public policy and consultation processes that will lead and inform the shape of healthcare in the UK in future.
For more information about the Patient Voices support network, see our booklet – 'Our Services - Your Support'.
If you would like to know more about managing the long term effects of your bowel cancer as a chronic illness, have a look at the free, national Expert Patient Programme.
