How the Group gets involved...
"I’ve gained so much knowledge about bowel cancer since my diagnosis,
I just wanted to share that with others and to let them see that there
can be a positive outcome to a traumatic experience."
- Sue Judge
"With the operation to remove my tumour looming I felt
that I needed some additional support – to talk to someone who had been
through it too. Beating Bowel Cancer put me in touch with someone quickly
and it was an enormous relief to share some of my worries and concerns
with someone other than close relatives and friends. I would recommend
it to anyone facing a battle with bowel cancer."
- Peter James Medwell
"I decided to produce a booklet – My Genetic Journey – as there
wasn’t a lot of written information for patients with Familial Adenomatous
Polyposis (FAP) and I wanted people in a similar situation to mine to
be able to read more about treatments and investigations. I also included
personal and often humorous glimpses of my early life so it was not all
about cancer and genetics. 56 pages, 17,000 words later (having failed
my English GCSE twice this was quite an achievement) I hope to be able
to increase awareness whilst raising funds for Beating Bowel Cancer."
- Mick Mason
Patient Voice and former bowel cancer patient Derek Box took part in our Borneo Trek in June 2006, followed by a second trek to India with the charity in February 2007. A remarkable personal achievement for him and a fantastic inspiration to others!
Pat Dimeloe collected a cheque for £380 from Mackwell Electronics on behalf of Beating Bowel Cancer. Pat’s husband David is the Managing Director of Mackwell, and his team organised fundraising through a Christmas raffle and sponsored singing to raise the funds. Thank you!
