Patient Voices

Who are Patient Voices?

Patient Voices are the only UK national patient-to-patient network for people affected by bowel cancer, and their relatives.

The network is informal, and members can be as involved as their time and lifestyle allow. Some people choose to get involved across the whole spectrum of group activities whilst others concentrate on one aspect.

Patient Voices are a diverse range of people in terms of age, gender, life experience, location and medical history.  What they have in common is a bowel cancer diagnosis (either themselves or a close relative), and a desire to 'give something back'.

Meet some of our Patient Voices

What do they do?

Patient-to-patient support: Some members of our Patient Voices are willing to talk to others about their experience of bowel cancer and support them through their treatment.

Raising awareness:  Patient Voices raise awareness in a number of ways which can include distributing leaflets and posters in their local area, talking to the media (local or national, print, TV or radio) or lobbying their MP. Others go into companies and organisations via our Health in the Workplace scheme to educate people in their place of work about the signs and symptoms of bowel cancer and the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.

Fundraising: Many group members want to support our work by organising events in their local area to raise vital funds for Beating Bowel Cancer.

If you would like to join our Patient Voices , email our nurses to find out more.
