Patient support

Your donations help us to support patients in a variety of different ways.

  • Our Nurse advisory service is open five days a week.  Our team of four nurse advisors support bowel cancer patients and their families by phone, by email, on our forum and through Facebook and Twitter.
  • Our Patient Forum is a friendly supportive community providing support to those affected by bowel cancer whenever they need it.  The forum is moderated 7 days a week and our nurses respond to questions and provide support and information through the forum.
  • Our Patient Voices group was the first national bowel cancer patient-to-patient support network and now has 180 active members all over the country.  Members of our group are willing to talk (by telephone, by email or in person) to others about their experience of bowel cancer.
  • Every year we send out 40,000 copies of our patient booklets and factsheets to hospital colorectal cancer departments and to individual patients, and many thousands more are downloaded from our website.
  • Our publications are accredited by The Information Standard as a reliable and comprehensive source of health and social care information.
  • We make our publications available to health professionals and patients through the NHS Information Pathway and NHS Choices websites.
  • We host an online forum for healthcare professionals.
  • So far, 3,800 people have attended our Health in the Workplace talks, presented by bowel cancer patients.
  • We send our free newsletter to patients and their families three times a year.
