BE LOUD WEEK – An annual fundraising and awareness campaign organised by Beating Bowel Cancer. Takes place in the last week of January each year. To visit the official Be Loud website, click here.

BOWEL CANCER AWARENESS MONTH – a month dedicated to raising awareness of bowel cancer, organised by a number of bowel cancer and cancer charities. Takes place in April. Beating Bowel Cancer can provide you with educational and awareness materials if you are planning an event in your surgery, clinic or hospital. Local Educational Events

There are many local educational events, which are available to GP’s and non-specialist health care professionals. To access these, you are advised to either contact the Primary Care Educationalist who will be based at your local PCT or the Primary Care Tutor based within the Post-graduate medical centre or education centre of each individual Trust. These individuals will hold information of forthcoming
events, which may include issues concerning colorectal cancer.

PRIMARY CARE SOCIETY OF GASTROENTEROLOGY

The PCSG was founded in 1985 to provide a network for general practitioners and others interested in all clinical, research and educational aspects of gastroenterological disorders and in particular their management in primary care. The Society has established links with the British Society of Gastroenterology and a number of other

ASSOCIATION OF COLOPROCTOLOGY

The Association of Coloproctology holds an annual scientific meeting, which is attended by delegates worldwide. The 2007 Annual Colorectal Meeting was held in Glasgow from 2-5 July and Beating Bowel Cancer launched our new Just Diagnosed project at the event. We will be at the 2008 meeting, so we hope to see you there!

THE BRITISH SOCIETY OF GASTROENTEROLOGY

The British Society of Gastroenterology holds an annual scientific meeting, which is attended by delegates worldwide. The meeting covers all aspects of gastroenterology but includes presentations specific to endoscopy. The Joint Advisory Group (JAG), which is a subsidiary of the BSG produces guidelines on all endoscopy related issues including those connected with the diagnosis and treatment
of colorectal cancer. Delegates include medical personnel and allied health care professionals involved in this area.

The European Council of Coloproctology and the European Association of Coloproctology have recently combined and hold an annual scientific meeting, which is held in different venues throughout Europe. This association is dedicated to the development of coloproctology as a speciality across Europe.
