Health in the Workplace

The health of a workforce is vital to any organisation

Employers are increasingly recognising the part they can play in promoting health and wellbeing amongst their staff and the workplace offers an opportunity to reach employees who may not otherwise seek and find potentially life saving information about bowel cancer.

Beating Bowel Cancer offers Health in the Workplace talks that provide vital information about the disease via a service that is available to organisations across the country.

Health in the Workplace talks provide important and potentially life saving information on the prevalence of bowel cancer, the symptoms and preventative measure people can take to reduce their risk. Each presentation is delivered by one of our trained volunteers with personal experience of bowel cancer – either directly or indirectly - and whose personal story brings to life the importance of knowing and recognising the symptoms of bowel cancer.

The presentation, including a short video, lasts no longer than 30 minutes and can be arranged to suit your work practices.

The video, presented by ITV's 'This Morning' celebrity GP Dr Chris Steele, reiterates the potentially life-saving facts about bowel cancer, including symptoms to look out for, and easy steps that people can take to help protect themselves against the disease.

Following talks we will also provide your employees with written information, outlining the key facts.

Becoming a Presenter

Our Health in the Workplace initiative has been hugely successful due to the fact that the talks are given by people who have personal experience of bowel cancer. Hearing directly from someone who has been touched by the disease resonates strongly with an audience and means that our messages make a very powerful statement.

If you would like to become one of our Health in the Workplace presenters we would be delighted to hear from you. We offer full training and always ensure that you feel completely comfortable with the content and key messages before asking you to present.

We are currently looking to recruit more presenters to our existing team and are especially interested in hearing from anyone who can cover an area within the M25 as well as the Bristol and Norwich areas.

If you are interested in finding our more about becoming a Health in the Workplace presenter email Nicola Keeble or call her on 020 8973 0013.
