A gift in your Will

By including a gift in your Will to Beating Bowel Cancer you will help us to support future generations. We understand that family and friends come first, so once you have taken care of your loved ones, please consider leaving a gift that will make a real and lasting difference. Gifts of all sizes are extremely valuable in helping to save lives.

Bowel cancer will affect 1 in 17 of us during our lifetime and every year almost 40,000 people are diagnosed. Please help future generations to beat bowel cancer.

Couple
“I want to help raise awareness and support patients so that others may not suffer as I have”

When Margaret was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2008 she knew nothing about the disease and was in total shock. At this point Beating Bowel Cancer's information booklets became invaluable; Margaret read the case studies and information to learn as much as she could about what was happening to her.

When Margaret realised how little people knew about bowel cancer, she felt compelled to do something about it, “The information and support I received from Beating Bowel Cancer helped me through a very tough time. To help raise awareness and support patients so that others may not suffer as I have, my husband and I have included a gift in our Wills to Beating Bowel Cancer.”

Beating Bowel Cancer is extremely grateful to Margaret and others like her, who support our work in this way. With your help we will continue to support patients, raise awareness and save lives. Find out where your money goes.

Making a Will

There are different types of legacy to choose from, including:

  • Residuary legacy – a gift of the remainder or a percentage of your estate after all other legacies have been made and debts cleared. This is an effective way to divide your estate between a number of people and causes that are important to you.
  • Pecuniary legacy – a gift of a fixed sum of money (the value of which will decrease over time, as the cost of living increases)

It is important to take advice from a solicitor to ensure that all the legal formalities are correctly followed and that your Will is valid.
