An unforgettable adventure in a unique environment
Our challenging trek takes us truly off the beaten track. We trek through dense, steamy jungle, surrounded by the incredibly atmospheric sounds made by a myriad of insects, animals such as gibbons, hornbills and tree frogs, and the all-pervasive dripping foliage. Staying in local Dayak villages, we gain a privileged insight into their ancient culture.
You won’t have many home comforts, but this is an unforgettable challenge in an untamed environment – a true adventure in every sense.
Costs and sponsorship
Registration fee: £399
Minimum Sponsorship pledge: £3500
Please note that 80% of your sponsorship pledge should be paid to Beating Bowel Cancer no later than 8 weeks before your departure date. The remaining 20% should arrive with us no later than 1 month after you return.
This is an open challenge and people raising money for other chairties will be taking part.
What's included?
The trip includes the following:
- Experienced group leaders and support staff to manage the event safely and enjoyably; including a fully qualified doctor
- Return flights to the UK and in country transport
- All accomodation on the trip (in hotels, local village homestays and, for one
night, a traditional Dayak longhouse) - All but three meals as described in the itinerary
- Local support crew including cooks, porters and drivers
The trip does not include the following:
- Personal travel insurance
- Airline fuel suplement (if necessary)
- Entry visa
- Three meals as specified in the itinerary
- Personal spending money
Itinerary
- DAY 1: Depart UK
- DAY 2: Arrive Banjarmasin
- DAY 3: Drive to start of trek; head into heart of rainforest
- DAY 4: Trek small narrow paths through thick vegetation; overnight in traditional Dayak longhouse
- DAY 5: Hilly day with magnificent views of surrounding forest
- DAY 6: Long, steady ascent through dense undergrowth to ridge; gradual descent towards Loksado
- DAY 7: Short trek to finish point; transfer to Banjarmasin and hotel
- DAY 8: Free day to explore; optional visit to traditional floating market
- DAY 9: Depart for UK via Jakarta
- DAY 10: Arrive UK
