Bowel Cancer Awareness Month
April is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month
April is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month and each year we make as much noise about bowel cancer as possible to help save lives from the disease.
Bowel Cancer Awareness Month 2010 was packed with awareness and fundraising activities...
On 1st April we launched our Cheeky Warning campaign which used social media to raise awareness of bowel cancer symptoms amongst a younger audience. Many of you helped to spread the word about our Cheeky Warning film via Facebook, Twitter and You Tube and so far the film has been viewed over 5,000 times!
April also saw the launch of our new pharmacy campaign Don't Hide Your Symptoms Behind Closed Doors. Posters and leaflets were displayed in pharmacies across England and Wales, and pharmacists and pharmacy staff were given useful guides to help them talk to their customers about bowel cancer symptoms and screening. Find out more about the campaign here.
We were delighted to be one of eBay's featured charities in their £1 at checkout campaign which raised a fantastic £11,500 in just two weeks. We also held an eBay auction of items generously donated by John Lewis which raised £2,500.
For the second year we held a 'Bowling for Bowel Cancer' evening at Tenpin's 38 centres across the UK on the 28th April. Thanks to Tenpin staff and customers for raising a fantastic £10,730.
Finally, our press office was busy throughout April working to raise awareness of bowel cancer in the national and regional press. A selection of the coverage can be viewed here.
