A gift in your Will
By including a gift in your Will to Beating Bowel Cancer you will help secure the future of the charity. We understand family and friends come first, but once you have taken care of your loved ones, please consider leaving a gift that will make a real and lasting difference. Gifts of all sizes are valuable to us.
Bowel cancer will affect 1 in 18 of us during our lifetime and every year 37,500 people will be diagnosed. Please help us to continue to make a difference and to help future generations beat bowel cancer.
“I want to help raise awareness and support patients so that others may not suffer as I have”
When Margaret was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2008 she knew nothing about the disease and she was in total shock. At this point Beating Bowel Cancer’s information booklets became Margaret’s “bible”; she read the case studies and information to learn as much as she could about what was happening to her.
When Margaret realised how little people knew about bowel cancer, she felt compelled to do something about it, “Like me, so many of my friends and family knew nothing about bowel cancer. The information and support I received from Beating Bowel Cancer helped me through a very tough time. My husband and I want to help raise awareness and support patients so that others may not suffer as I have, so we decided to include a gift in our Wills to Beating Bowel Cancer.”
We are extremely grateful to Margaret, and others like her, who support our work in this way.
Making a Will
There are different types of legacy to choose from. These include:
- Residuary legacy – a gift of the remainder or a percentage of your estate after all other legacies have been made and debts cleared. This is an effective way to divide your estate between a number of people and causes that are important to you.
- Pecuniary legacy – a gift of a fixed sum of money, the value of which will decrease over time, as the cost of living increases.
It is important to take advice from a professional to ensure that all the legal formalities are correctly followed and that your Will is valid.
Please remember to use our full name Beating Bowel Cancer: Education, Awareness, Support, our registered charity number 1063614 and the correct registered address
