Support
The welfare of bowel cancer patients is at the core of all our work. Being diagnosed with bowel cancer comes as a terrible shock for most people. We provide information and support to patients, and their family and friends, at what is often a difficult and emotional time for all involved.
Patient-focused services that we offer include:
- Patient information – we publish a range of booklets and leaflets on all aspects of bowel cancer, giving patients the most up-to date information on the disease and its treatment.
- Our website – this is a comprehensive source of information for patients, and often the first point of call.
- National patient-to-patient support group – through our Patient Voices group, we are able to ‘match’ patients up with other patients who have had similar experiences or are of a similar age, allowing them to talk to each other on the telephone, via email or even to meet up if they live close by.
- Nurse advisory service – we have a dedicated nurse based at the charity, available to provide help and advice to patients either by phone or email.
